July 11, 2009 Riverwalk San Antonio and The Alamo

We went to Riverwalk in San Antonio and had a total blast. On the way there we stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast, we had a gift card complements of my parents. After stuffing ourselves and a bit of shopping we ventured on to Rivercenter mall. The mall is 3 stories and the center has the river. We took the boat ride, which lasts about a half hour, down the river. The guide gives you a great history lesson on San Antonio, I didn't take notes so I have all these photos of buildings and I don't remember what they were or why they were significant. Oh well, it was sure fun, we all enjoyed it. After the boat ride we walked along the river a bit and ended up having to go up to the street. We crossed the intersection and found The Alamo! So we toured through that. Very neat and I am sure we will go back, it was kind of crowded so we really didn't get to see the artifact displays inside. After the Alamo we headed back to the mall and shopped. We got some yummy (we love local food stuff) bbq sauce and some seasonings and salsa...YUM! Fun day, looking forward to returning.

Riding along the river

The island this tree is on is formed entirely by its root system
This is a stage and the other side of the river has seating for 800. Apparently this was where Miss Congenialty was filmed.

Faces on the side of one building

This building is triangle shaped as you approach, then as you get in front of it, it looks flat. Freaky

We're hot, time to go home, but had fun!
