9-7-09 Wildlife Ranch

Happy Labor Day! We took Mike to this wildlife ranch nearby (Madison was at a birthday party), where you drive through and feed animals. It was pretty neat, although very hot.

Traffic was completely stopped for about 20 to 30 minutes and we couldn't figure out why. Eventually we got up to the problem, some idiot decided to stop in the middle of the road and feed the ginormous buffalo! Brilliant!

This guy came by, we didn't feed him, we really just wanted to move along.

9-5-09 Gruene, TX

Gruene Texas, "Gently resisting change since 1872." This is the second time we've ventured to Gruene. It's not far from us at all and it's a neat area with resturants, shops, etc. We ate again at the Gristmill, this time we sat outside and could barely see the river, lots of trees! We were visited by a little hummingbird who was feasting on flowers near our table, so cool.

The Gristmill

Done eating, now to shopping! They have neat little shops, with local foods and different things. This is my life theme!

We found The Grapevine, did some wine tasting and bought 3 bottles of wine.
This was a pack of napkins in the wine store, cracked me up.

The Gruene Mansion Inn, bed and breakfast, would love to stay there sometime.

In the General Store, which had everything from ice cream to Christmas ornaments. We got fudge and coffee! And we had some fun too.
Obviously they didn't like Clinton!

Down the street we found grillin in Gruene. Neat little place, stopped and got drinks, tried the Alamo Ale, it was very good.

Eventually we found a toy store, they had the neatest toys. Madison got cat ears to replace her worn out ones. Mike got a gun and bow & arrow.

9-4-09 Peter Piper Pizza

We've been scouting for places to have pizza and let the kids play. I'm not fond of Chuck E Cheese, I've done my time there. We went to Mr. Gatti's which was ok. Then I
found Peter Piper. Pizza was great, decent game room which was right next to the tables so you don't have to go find your kid after 10 minutes. We had a good time, kids had a blast.

9-3-09 Dogs

This is just cute. Max is 7 years old, enjoys sleeping and eating, he's not the puppy he once was. My mom got this stuffed beaver for Tink actually. Well Max just loves this stupid thing and since I am home he frequently brings it over to play. It's really gross and slimey. Most stuffed animals Max has had he rips up, but not this one, it's his wubby! His yucky wubby. :)

9-1-09 Hummingbirds

Our neighbor had told us that there were hummingbirds all over the place here. So I bought a nice, cheap, $3.00 feeder and hung it up. I didn't have high hopes but figured it was worth a shot, especially at that price. Much to our surprise we had several visitors come to our feeder. I bought a second, little bit nicer feeder since the first visits, although they really don't seem to care where the free food comes from!
