5-12-10 Culture cooking

Madison's class had Culture Day. We chose Canada since my dad and grandmother are Canadian. We had to bring in something to share. So we made Canadian shortbread cookies. They were very good. Here's the recipe:
Canadian Shortbread 'Eh'
Ingredients
2 cups of butter softened
1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup real maple syrup (a challenge to find in Texas:)

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 300
2. Combine butter, sugar, flour and maple syrup, blend until smooth.
3. On a lightly floured surface roll dough out 1/2 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
4. Bake at 300 for 20 minutes, watch carefully so as not to overcook. Let them cool before eating.

Kids had to taste test of course.

This was later on....made me think the couch is really a bunk bed for dogs.
