5-20-10 Jimmy Buffett concert

Wherever we are I will always do everything I can to see Jimmy Buffett in concert. His Under the Big Top tour came to Texas. We traveled to the Houston area to see him at The Woodlands (just north of Houston). We got a hotel which conveniently had transportation to and from the concert pavilion. We got in early afternoon and of course the kids had to check out the pool.

Done with the pool, cleaned up and ready for the show!

At the pavilion, shopping for tshirts and gettin' ready for the show!

The show! I didn't get many photos at this point, got very dark and I only had my phone/camera.

5-16-10 Madi gets her ears pierced

Madison decided she wanted her ears pierced. She has had them done before, when she was about 5, but we had to take them out. So now that she's a 9 year old, she decided she wants them again. We took her to Claire's, she didn't even flinch! Can't wait to buy her some earrings!

5-15-10 Visit from Granny & Rik

Peg & Rik came for a visit...of course no visit would be the same without a trip to Gruene and lunch at the Gristmill!

5-12-10 Culture cooking

Madison's class had Culture Day. We chose Canada since my dad and grandmother are Canadian. We had to bring in something to share. So we made Canadian shortbread cookies. They were very good. Here's the recipe:
Canadian Shortbread 'Eh'
Ingredients
2 cups of butter softened
1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup real maple syrup (a challenge to find in Texas:)

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 300
2. Combine butter, sugar, flour and maple syrup, blend until smooth.
3. On a lightly floured surface roll dough out 1/2 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
4. Bake at 300 for 20 minutes, watch carefully so as not to overcook. Let them cool before eating.

Kids had to taste test of course.

This was later on....made me think the couch is really a bunk bed for dogs.

5-9-10 Happy Mother's Day!

Che & kids got me an aero garden, since I'm always seeding or planting something. Pretty neat, it actually produced some amazing herbs. It's all self contained so no weeding

is involved and you only change water every 2 weeks.

5-8-10 Mike's birthday party

Mike's birthday is the 13th, so we had his party on the 8th...however, when I booked it I did not realize it was Mother's Day weekend. So most everyone we invited was busy with mom, but sometimes a small party is better anyway. We bowled, ate and all had a blast! Happy 11th birthday Mike!

5-4-10 New bikes!

When we moved we got rid of everyone's bikes....it was time for new ones. So we went to toys r us and all of us got a new bike. The neighborhood on base is so nice for bike riding.
