6-20-09 Niagara Falls, NY

Saturday was a free day of sorts. We had learned the day before that Niagara Falls was not too far from where we were and my cousins had visited it the day before. My geography had failed me as I had no idea that we were so close. So this morning me, Che, Mike and Madison drove up to Niagara, about 1 1/2 hour drive. Angie slept in and later caught a movie with her cousins. Even though it was a cloudy, dreary day, we enjoyed it tremendously. We loved seeing the old NY buildings along the way, old row houses and factories. The architecture of some was stunning.
The falls were just amazing. We ended up taking the Maid in the Mist boat ride. It lasted about a half an hour and takes you right up to the falls. There are no words to describe how incredible it was. After you get off the boat you can take these stairs that go up alongside the falls. It was so cool...and wet! Once we finished that we wandered back up to the river to check out the rapids. We ended our trip with lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe and headed back to Chautauqua. Memorable day for sure.
